Last addon version: 0.0.4 aka file with "v004" in its name

Camera Preview is an addon for Blender. It enables a camera view overlay in one of the corners over the 3d viewport - like in Unity or Unreal Engine - to preview the view of the active/selected camera in the scene.

How to have it working?

Just install it as any addon. To see the camera preview over the 3d viewport you just need to select any camera in your scene (and you obviously need to have a 3d viewport open).

Enjoy the quick camera search-selection feature!

Optimized!

It has some optimizations to perform less updates/redraws as possible so that you get the best performance while working on Blender.

Let's see what user-actions perform this updates:

  • Camera switch (selecting another camera).
  • Moving or rotating the active camera.
  • Modifying render resolution settings.
  • Resizing the editor.
  • Changing some properties of the addon itself.

Addon Preferences

Some properties are exposed in the 'Camera Preview' addon preferences. Take a look at them!

Scaling Settings:

Scaling Mode - Normal :

  • 'Thumbnail Scale' : Adjust the scale of the camera preview overlay.
  • 'Only Scale Camera View' : Once enable, the scale will only affect the camera view but not the text size, the padding and the border thickness. NOTE: Disable this if your screen has a high DPI.

Scaling Mode - Adaptive :

  • 'Viewport Divisions' : The dimensions of the thumbnail will fit into the viewport size divided by this value.
  • 'Screen DPI' : Meant for users with high screen DPI so that text, border and so on have a correct scale.

Style Settings:

  • 'Border Color' : To change the color of the border/outline.
  • 'Text Color' : To change the color of the text for the camera name.

More customization stuff to come later! :-)
